Little England Farm

We Design For… team members managed and worked on this project during their previous employment.  The brief for Little England Farm was, in collaboration with BBM Sustainable Design, to design a highly sustainable new residence to fit onto an existing rural site within the Kent countryside. The building had to work alongside numerous other historical buildings, including an original oast house. The design was developed to harness historic and vernacular architecture, but apply it with a modern twist.

Design initiatives/actions undertaken:

• Designed fenestration with quantum and specification of glazing based on balancing light heat gains against heat loss
• Volumetric alanysis to understand air movement, free cooling and improved wellness
• High performance facades
• Intelligent shading both passive and acive
• Biomass Heating
• Heat rejection into a natural swimming pool
