London Business School

We Design For engaged with London Business School early in the planning process, carrying out condition surveys, feasibility and cost studies to better inform the decision making process for essential upgrade works.  Consistent engagement, initially with the client team and subsequently the appointed contractor gave all parties the assurance that the design was the best possible solution; delivered efficiently and effectively.

We Design For’s Pete Carvell was lead engineering consultant for the works “The project successfully created a new heat network linking two sides of London Business School’s main campus that were previously heated by separate systems . We considered the challenges posed by reusing the existing infrastucture of the two buildings, upgrading and interfacing closed protocol building management systems and maintaining hydraulic separation in order to reuse existing pipework  and ancillaries where feasible. This made one of the two  existing plant room’s redundant; freeing up additional space by reducing the size of heating plant, as such creating valuable space for other purposes. A strategy very much welcomed by the school. The heating upgrade works has saved the institution large sums of money on annual energy bills, offering an attractive payback against the capital investment for the works.”
